What is AR?

2008 Adventure Racing World Champs - Brazil

Adventure RacingĀ is a TEAM Sport.

4 person mixed teams (never more than 50m apart/line of sight), navigate using map and compass through the race course.

Multi-Disciplines :

Race events can include anything from Run/Hike, Mountain Biking, Paddling, Kloofing, Caving, Ropeworks (abseil / jumar), tubing, inline skating, horse riding and other. Each race is unique and the organiser will decide which disciplines he will be using.

Teams are self sufficient and carry enough water/food between transitions.

Race format is Non-Stop, it is the teams decision on when/where and if they want to sleep.

Sprints Races 30km-80km (3-8hours)

Short Course: 80km – 180km (10-24hours)

Classic: 250km – 350km (24hours +)

Expedition 350km -700km (4.5-7 days)
