Where the hell are we?
Navigation is one of the disciplines of adventure racing that not only embraces all other disciplines of the sport but also provides an interesting edge to the sport. Teams get to choose there own routes.
Using only a map and compass to navigate through the course to various checkpoints (GPS not allowed)
With some experience in map reading, one can find it easy to take all those lines and marks and visualise a 3 dimensional image of the landscape around.
At night, in forests or in thick mountain mist, Navigational ability really gets tested.
Maps are often pre-plotted with the Checkpoints (CP’s), although some might require you to plot the gps co-ordinates yourself.
